Lil Miss Mel premiered her original solo show Crowded Blouse at the Jade for the 2022 Fringe, where it was received with delight and occasional delirium.
In this one hour show, our hot mess of a heroine performs everything from 80s disco to stripped back pub classics, with her trusty guitar, and Deb Brennan’s stunning piano accompaniment, and backup vocals,
She boldly lurches from light-up dance floors to the dizzying heights of Adelaide’s classiest bingo halls, hell bent on finding the true song of her heart, the music in her soul, or the nearest pub, whichever comes first.
Along the way, she ponders intimate & frequently inappropriate interactions, and the overall meaning of life, through parody & song; having Nutbushed, bopped and Bus-Stopped her way to semi-obscurity and middle age, she ponders the big questions: How do I become my most authentic self? What is music without true connection? Did we really just get paid in beer for that gig?
Will she find the answers she seeks through jamming with a band, or will she choose the route of musical self-satisfaction?
